Animal of January 2022: Akohekohe!
Hello, Nature Fans!! A very Happy New Year to all of you, wishing you creativity, motivation and time for things you like :) Our animal, randomly chosen from the IUCN Red List, is an amazing bird, the Akohekohe!! It lives on the island of Maui in Hawaii, and eats the nectar of flowers in wet an high forests. It is critically endangered today, was thought to be extinct in the 1940s, but, after the discovery of a few individuals, it's been strictly protected since 1967. Today, their population is estimated a little bit under 4000 individuals. They are highly vocal birds and their way of communicating is really cool. You can hear a few audios here: Haubenkleidervogel - eBird You can learn a bit about them here: ʻAkohekohe - Wikipedia Many Thanks, now, to all the artists who took time to fill our Blue Dasher folder last month!! It makes an awesome collection!! Hope you like this blue collection :)
